The Smithsonian Kite Festival (part of the National Cherry Blossom Festival) in DC makes kite flying seem as cool as it ever was. No, actually, cooler! Not only do the Masters' kites fly 500 feet in the air, or turn incredible stunts like 90-degree turns, but they also fight to destroy each other in a "traditional Rokkaku Challenge". They slice each others' lines, smash into each other and use their tethers to bind up competitors in a Battle Royale format.
