File under What is Homeland Security... really?
"Ballard [High School] has doubled the number of surveillance cameras from 32 to 64 -- about one for every 13 students at the 820-student school. The new door system, paid for with federal homeland security funds..."
The incredible $70,000 new door technology apparently allows the doors to lock from the inside. Absolute genius.

Last night I dreamt the lyrics to a cowboy lament, completely making up the lyrics as I sang them in the typical Guthrie style:
"I'm a lonesome cowboy/
Out on my own, a lonesome cowboy man/
Ain't seen a purdy woman, since I 'as sixteen.../
But I don' think I'll forget... *that occasion*."
Yeeei haw.
Why is my sleeping brain writing new cowboy laments? and why a funny one? And has it really been that long?

They used to say, "In the future, everyone will have 15 minutes of fame." Now they say "In the future, everyone will have 15 minutes of privacy.
The question is no longer "could it happen here?", but "did it already happen here?"
